ABOUT & PROCESS

Julia Cooke, creator and metalsmith behind Ravenwood Jewelry, is a uniquely talented jewelry designer specializing in silver, gold and bronze jewelry. Her custom, one of a kind creations are often inspired by the contours and textures discovered in the natural world. She loves to create one of a kind wedding rings for clients that reflect both the uniqueness of the materials as well as the person wearing them. She is intrigued and inspired by distinct faunal shapes and the sometimes surprising botanical forms she finds foraging in nature.  Her mother introduced her to the book “Art Forms in Nature”, by philosopher and naturalist Ernst Haeckel, the influential Darwinian professor, physician, biologist, author, and artist, and has always found inspiration and reflection in his books.

Julia’s talent germinated from early artistic familial roots. Mom expressed herself as a potter, textile designer, and painter; while Dad was an inquisitive thinker and engineer. Her Opa (grandfather) was a successful sculptor and painter in Germany, while Oma (grandmother) was a painter and artist. Her sister Nina is also a painter, maker and artist.

Ravenwood Jewelry strikes a balance in the juxtaposition of bold yet delicate, crafted yet natural, rough yet polished, and outrageous yet refined.  Julia also specializes in custom made jewelry such as wedding bands.

Feel free to contact her if you have any questions or would like to inquire about a custom piece of jewelry.
